The Indian government has established a committee led by former President Ramnath Kovind to develop a plan for simultaneous elections. Various recommendations have been made, including a two-phase process where some elections coincide with the Lok Sabha polls and the remaining are held later. However, legal and constitutional challenges need to be addressed, such as the fixed term of the House and premature dissolution. Additionally, provisions for byelections need to be considered.
