INDIA bloc floor leaders to focus on session; 1 Nation, 1 Poll

Parliamentary floor leaders of Indian political parties are meeting to discuss the government’s proposal for ‘one nation, one election’. Congress President Kharge accused the Modi government of trying to turn India into a dictatorship and dismantle the country’s federal structure. He also questioned the composition of the committee formed by the government and criticized the exclusion of a representative from the Election Commission of India. Kharge argued that such a drastic change would sabotage democracy and suggested that parties should discuss electoral reforms instead.
