Voting underway for bypolls to two assembly seats in Tripura

By-elections are taking place in Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly seats in Tripura’s Sepahijala district. Heavy security presence is reported at the polling booths, with voting scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. In Boxanagar, BJP’s Tafajjal Hussain is contesting against CPI(M) nominee Mizan Hussain, while in Dhanpur, BJP’s Bindu Debnath is up against CPI(M)’s Kaushik Debnath. The Boxanagar seat was vacated due to the death of CPI(M) MLA Samsul Haque, while the Dhanpur seat was vacated by Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik’s resignation. The results will be announced on September 8.
