Six states in India are preparing for by-polls on September 5, which will serve as a show of strength for the opposition bloc, Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The by-polls are being held for seven seats across six states, with the results to be announced on September 8. The by-polls have been necessitated by the deaths and resignations of sitting MLAs. The outcome of these by-polls will have implications for the upcoming state assembly elections and the national Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
