Congress Member of Parliament Manickam Tagore clarified that the recent speech about “Sanatana Dharma” was made by a DMK leader and not by Congress. He emphasized that Congress respects all religions. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa had targeted Congress over the remarks and questioned their intent. The BJP demanded an apology from Congress and the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) over the controversy. Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who made the original remarks, stood by his statement, stating that he included all religions and condemned caste differences. His remarks received criticism from various leaders.
