Political parties in Karnataka, including the BJP, Congress, and JDS, are increasingly using social media for campaigning. Influencers are being utilized, although they are not officially employed by the parties. The BJP plans to promote their development works while in power on social media, while the Congress believes that party leaders’ social media handles are the best medium to influence voters. The Congress, JDS, and BJP collectively spent around Rs 2.6 crore on Facebook, Instagram, and Google ads before the assembly polls. Influencer interviews are becoming popular, and social media is expected to play a significant role in upcoming elections.
