Maratha leader’s ultimatum on quota puts govt in tight spot
The Maratha reservation issue in Maharashtra has escalated with a hunger strike by local Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil. Patil has given the government an ultimatum to provide Maratha reservations under the OBC category within four days. He has refused to end his protest until the Marathas from Marathwada region are given reservations by recognizing them as Kunbis, a caste recognized as OBCs.
