Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a cabinet meeting to discuss the release of 5,000 cusecs of water to Tamil Nadu over the next 15 days, as directed by the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee. Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who handles the Irrigation portfolio, also attended the meeting. Shivakumar is scheduled to meet Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh to discuss the Cauvery dispute. The states have been in a dispute over the sharing of Cauvery water for years.
