Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has hailed the monthly financial assistance scheme for women heads of families, called the ‘Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam,’ as a groundbreaking initiative that will reshape women’s welfare in India. The scheme, which offers Rs 1,000 monthly assistance to 1,06,50,000 women family heads, will be launched on September 15. Stalin believes that this initiative will inspire other states to roll out similar schemes to empower women. The money will be directly deposited into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
