Women’s reservation bill doesn’t need protection from Mandal MPs this time
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced a bill in Lok Sabha that proposes 33% reservation for women in elected bodies. The proceedings were largely peaceful and ceremonial, in contrast to the eventful day in 2008 when the bill was first listed in the Rajya Sabha. The bill was met with protests and misogynistic comments, and it took two years for it to be passed.
