“We voted against so that…”: Asaduddin Owaisi after passage of women’s quota Bill in LS
The women's reservation Bill has cleared its first legislative hurdle in the Lok Sabha with a majority of 454 votes in favor and 2 against. However, the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MPs, Asaduddin Owaisi and Imtiaz Jaleel, voted against the Bill, stating that it does not include a sub-quota for Muslim and Other Backward Classes (OBC) women. Owaisi argues that OBC and Muslim women deserve representation as they make up a significant portion of the population.
