A high-level committee in India held its first meeting to discuss the feasibility of conducting simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha and state assemblies. The committee decided to invite political parties, the Law Commission, and the Election Commission to seek their views on the matter. The committee also plans to study Article 356 of the Constitution and rename itself as the “One Nation One Election” panel.
