Pressure mounting on Siddaramaiah govt in Karnataka to make caste census report public
The release of Bihar's caste survey findings has put pressure on the Karnataka government to make its own caste census public. The Congress-led government in Karnataka commissioned a Socio-economic and Educational Census in 2015, but the findings have not been released. Analysts believe that the government has been avoiding the release due to concerns that the results may contradict the perceived strength of certain castes in the state, making it a contentious issue. Political parties have been blaming each other for the delay in making the census public.
