The Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP has requested the Election Commission of India not to freeze the party symbol or name until the dispute over who is the real NCP is resolved. The Ajit Pawar camp, on the other hand, has asked the EC to rule in their favor, citing a previous order where the Shiv Sena name and symbol were given to a different faction.
