Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Sadvi Niranjan Jyoti, accused the West Bengal government of irregularities and corruption in the implementation of the MGNREGA scheme between 2019 and 2021. She stated that the Centre is sympathetic towards Bengal and there is no step-motherly attitude towards the state. The Trinamool Congress has been protesting in front of Raj Bhawan over MGNREGA dues, and a three-member delegation from the party met with the Governor to discuss the issue.
