The National Conference (NC) and Congress alliance emerged as winners in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council election in Kargil, winning 19 out of 26 seats. The victory is seen as a resounding verdict against the BJP, which only won two seats. The voter turnout was 77.61%, with 46,762 females casting their votes. This result is seen as a setback for the BJP, as voters expressed their dissatisfaction with the party’s decision to abrogate Article 370. Former J&K CMs Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti hailed the victory as a message against the undemocratic division of J&K and Ladakh.
