Union Minister Piyush Goyal has stated that the lotus symbolizes the BJP in every election, amid speculation over the party’s chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh. Goyal expressed confidence that his party would emerge victorious. The main opposition Congress claimed that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was trying to pressure Prime Minister Narendra Modi after Chouhan’s recent remarks. The BJP has announced candidates for 79 out of the total 230 assembly seats in the state, with several contenders for the chief minister’s post. In the 2018 elections, the Congress formed a coalition government that collapsed after 15 months.
