Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of delaying assembly elections in the region following the landslide victory of the National Conference and Congress in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council elections in Kargil. Abdullah claimed that the BJP is using the Election Commission of India as a shield and that the people of J&K are being denied their democratic right to elect their own representatives. The NC and Congress won 22 out of 26 seats in the LAHDC elections.
