The ruling Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana has promised a range of benefits in its manifesto ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. These include monthly financial assistance of ₹3,000 for women, gas cylinders at ₹400, housing for all, and a pension of ₹5,000 for the elderly and destitute. The BRS is aiming to outdo its main challenger, the Congress party, by offering higher pensions and cheaper gas cylinders. The BRS has also pledged to increase the popular Rythu Bandhu scheme, which provides financial assistance to farmers, to ₹12,000 per acre over five years.
