The Indian government is developing an online portal to provide information on eligibility criteria under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The aim of the portal is to allow eligible individuals to apply for citizenship without the intervention of state governments and to prevent corruption in the visa granting process. The CAA aims to grant citizenship to migrants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan who belong to certain religious communities. Several state governments have expressed opposition to the CAA, but the government has clarified that it does not apply to Indian citizens.
