The possibility of an alliance between the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress in the Madhya Pradesh assembly polls has been ruled out, as the SP has announced its candidates for nine seats. This may also affect the talks between the two parties for a seat-sharing arrangement in the 2024 LS polls in UP. The SP had won one seat in the 2018 MP elections, but the Congress’ decision to field its candidate from the same seat has troubled the SP leaders. The focus of the INDIA bloc, which both parties are part of, is on the LS elections.
