While consumption is a long-term theme in the world’s most populated country with 1.4 billion mouths to feed, cricket fever is being seen as another incremental opportunity as it coincides with the busy festive season. Bank of Baroda economists estimate that the cricketing extravaganza could add Rs 18,000-22,000 crore to India’s GDP and provide a fillip to the consumption sector.
