The Trinamool Congress has decided to distance itself from the controversy surrounding its MP Mahua Moitra, who has been accused of accepting bribes for raising questions in Parliament. The party leadership has chosen not to comment on the issue and is maintaining distance from it. BJP leader Rahul Sinha criticized the TMC for avoiding responsibility. Moitra has filed a defamation suit against those who made the allegations, and the complaint has been referred to the Parliament’s Ethics Committee. Moitra has questioned the credibility of the affidavit, claiming it was drafted by the PMO and he was forced to sign it under threat.
