The caste survey demands have lately blown up in the wake of the Bihar findings. The BJP has held its ground so far despite growing calls for such censuses elsewhere. But given rival parties’ hardening stance, it will be interesting to see how the BJP eventually deals with it without being seen as ceding ground, political analysts say.
