The incident happened during a debate on ‘how the Constitution was under threat’. Participating in the debate, BJP MLA Sankar Ghosh raised the issue of BJP defectors. The Speaker expunged his remarks, following which Adhikari and other BJP MLAs raised slogans against the Speaker in the well of the House. Adhikari alleged that the Speaker was ‘against the Constitution’. BJP MLAs later submitted a notice for no-trust motion against the Speaker.
