Among the Sensex firms, ITC, NTPC, Axis Bank, Larsen and Toubro, Bajaj Finance, Asian Paints and Tata Steel were the major gainers. Mahindra and Mahindra, Wipro, Maruti, IndusInd Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC Bank were among the laggards.
