Mamata Banerjee turns Santa Claus in North Bengal
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced a pay hike and salary restructuring for employees of the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA), which governs the hills and the state government. She promised to fill up 590 vacancies in hill schools and provided Rs 75 crore to GTA for developmental work following a recent natural disaster in Sikkim. Banerjee also promised to distribute 1200 land deeds to tea garden workers under the "Cha Sundari" project.
