The Supreme Court extends the deadline for Maharashtra assembly speaker Rahul to decide on Shiv Sena’s disqualification petitions, allowing 10 more days until January 10, 2023. Initially set for December 31, the speaker’s request for an extension led to the court’s decision. The case involves rival factions of Shiv Sena seeking disqualification of each other’s MLAs following alliances formed in June 2022. The court had earlier directed the speaker to expedite the proceedings against Eknath Shinde and Shiv Sena MLAs aligned with BJP.
