West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed frustration over the lack of recognition and support from the Centre for the Gangasagar Mela, one of the world’s largest religious congregations. Despite the event’s significance, Banerjee noted that Kumbh Mela receives more assistance, emphasising her government’s efforts to enhance infrastructure for the annual gathering on Sagar Island.
