Congress candidate Rupinder Singh Koonar on Monday won the Karanpur assembly election, defeating BJP minister Surendra Pal Singh by 11,283 votes. There were 18 rounds of counting. BJP’s candidate Singh lost for the second time after he lost the seat to Congress in 2018 elections.
