Following its defeat in recent state assembly polls, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) faces calls from leaders and cadres to revert to its original name, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Party workers believe that removing “Telangana” from the name has created a disconnect with the state, contributing to the electoral setback. Senior BRS leaders, including K T Rama Rao, are conducting preparatory meetings to analyze the poll debacle. The name change, implemented in 2022 to expand beyond Telangana, is considered a key factor in the party’s defeat, prompting discussions on a possible reversal.
