During his yatra, Gandhi will travel mostly on a bus – a custom made Volvo bus with a hydraulic lift – and will make brief stretches of walk in some cities/towns where he will interact with the local people. On the starting day, Gandhi travelled about 10 kms. This yatra-2 is a sequel to Gandhi’s Kanyakumari-Kashmir yatra on foot last year. The Rahul yatra-2 is part of the Congress’ pre-LS poll mobilisation bid in the backdrop of the party losing three Hindi heartland states and when the BJP is going all-out over the Ram temple inauguration.
