A BJP MLA has been arrested for shooting and injuring a Shiv Sena leader over a land dispute in Maharashtra’s Thane district. Ganpat Gaikwad, the BJP MLA, opened fire on Mahesh Gaikwad, the Shiv Sena chief of Kalyan, inside a police station. Ganpat Gaikwad claimed that he used the firearm to protect his son, who was being beaten at the police station. He accused Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of trying to establish a “kingdom of criminals” in Maharashtra.
