In West Bengal, BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari and four legislators were detained by police while en route to Sandeshkhali. Adhikari alleged police assault during a sit-in protest and vowed legal action. Section 144 was reimposed in Sandeshkhali due to BJP agitation over alleged sexual harassment incidents.
