The Dow Jones industrial average rose 165.22 points, or 0.94 percent, to 17,828.76, the SP 500 gained 24.69 points, or 1.19 percent, to 2,104.05 and the Nasdaq Composite added 73.40 points, or 1.45 percent, to 5,127.15.
