CM Siddaramaiah accepted the caste census report, ignoring protests from Veerashaiva-Lingayats and Vokkaligas. The report was submitted by K Jayaprakash Hegde and contained the findings of a comprehensive survey. Sri Siddaganga Swami and Lakshmi Hebbalkar called for a re-survey. The opposition BJP criticized the caste survey as a conspiracy by the Congress.
