Union Minister Anurag Thakur defended the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and criticized opposition parties for opposing it. Thakur questioned why the opposition wanted to deny rights to religious minorities in neighboring countries who would benefit from the CAA. He highlighted atrocities faced by persecuted refugee Hindu families and praised the Modi government for protecting Sikhs and the Guru Granth Sahib in Afghanistan. Thakur emphasized that the CAA would benefit those waiting for citizenship for 70 years. He also criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Left parties for their actions regarding candidate announcements.
