Bangalore has a water shortage of 500 MLD. Drinking water needs and industries add up to 2600 MLD water, of which 1450 MLD is obtained from Cauvery river and 650 MLD water is available from bore wells, Siddaramaiah said. MLD means million litres of water per day.
