I barely ever post but I believe that this point is absolutely critical so I will do so. My feelings are very strong on this subject.
My job posting involves fiduciary duties to shareholders and regulatory compliances. I’m absolutely aware of what is “illegal” vs. what is “unethical”. Just so that everyone is aware of the background.
Furthermore I would like to disclose that I was personally invested in Sandur owing to them owning their own mines and also having a reputation for “high corporate governance”. The day they announced this rights issue I pretty much sold the next day. I have not really benefited or lost from this action by Sandur. But as elucidated quite comprehensively by Kumar Manas the “motive” behind the rights issue was purely for the personal gains of the promoters by increasing their shareholdings for cheap.
Now many, including Donald, whom I greatly respect have said that this is par for course. In ANY company with a modicum of promoter ethics this WOULD NOT be allowed at all. Unethical and illegal are two separate matters in many an occasion. I think people are not either understanding the issue or purposely do not want to understand the issue because of their own biases.
In which world would it be correct to steal from sleeping shareholders who may be old pensioners… investing in this company on the mistaken belief in the ethics of the promoter group? I’m in disbelief at the incredibly high level of discourse at Valuepickr but also the blinders so many people have.
And furthermore in my personal opinion it’s unpardonable for the administrors to remove these valid points and posts without assigning a clear reason.
