West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee criticized the Election Commission (EC), calling it a “puppet” of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accusing it of favoring the BJP by holding polls over two months. Banerjee also accused Modi of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and expressed doubts about BJP’s claim of winning 400 seats in the elections. She reiterated her party’s opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens, and Uniform Civil Code in Bengal.
