Shares of state-run trading firm MMTC on Monday surged nearly 10 per cent after the company reported a net profit of Rs 43.84 crore for the second quarter ended September 30.
The stock climbed 9.47 per cent to Rs 46.20 at BSE. On NSE, it soared 9.58 per cent to Rs 46.30. The company announced its result post market hours on Friday.
The company had reported a net loss of Rs 10.08 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
Net sales of the company increased to Rs 4,884.99 crore during the July-September period compared with Rs 2,511.79 crore in the same quarter last year.
Meanwhile, in the broader market the BSE Sensex was trading 141.45 points higher at 25,751.98 at 1240 hrs.
