Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL), part of the Vedanta group, planned a special dividend payout of Rs 8,000 crore this fiscal, potentially benefitting the Centre with Rs 2,400 crore. The move followed National Company Law Tribunal’s approval to reallocate Rs 10,383 crore from general reserves to retained earnings. HZL’s board anticipated meeting to finalize the dividend.
