J&K awaits full statehood, Centre’s recent moves added to LG’s powers: Cong after polls announcement
The Congress party accused the Union government of strengthening the Lieutenant Governor's authority in Jammu and Kashmir, eroding the powers of an elected state government. The Election Commission declared assembly elections will be held in three phases from September 18. Jammu and Kashmir has been awaiting full statehood since Article 370 was revoked in 2019.
