You are right that my thesis is based on Mrs. Tata and Noel’s vision & their integrity. During inception years Mrs. Tata/Noel repeatedly emphasized – Retail is a tough business, we will build it without taking debts, we will not expand till our business model is right, we will bet on private labels. I was looking at my old notes and found that Noel mentioned about retail wreck in USA in 2017 when 1000 stores were closed and many retail chains filed for chapter 11 bankruptcies. Only few including Walmart and Costco survived. I am a form believer in what Buffet said in his 2003 letter- ” A company should be viewed as an unfolding movie, not as a still photograph. Those who focused in the past on only the snapshot of the day sometimes reached erroneous conclusions.”

I have already mentioned that I am a conservative investor and my holdings are for 10-15 rears+. Yes, I have made mistakes like selling Titan in just 12 years bough at approx. Rs 50 in May 2007 and sold at approx. Rs 520 in June 17 with approx. 21% CAGR. Currently the stock is at 3700 and still the movie is unfolding
