Neuland Laboratories Limited – Transformation towards niche APIs? (06-11-2024)
Statement from the CEO, “The numbers of this quarter are subpar relative to how the business has been performing over the last few quarters. However, they are in line with our commentary right at the beginning of the year as to how we see FY25 panning out. The inherent uneven nature of our business means that annual progression is a better indicator of the company’s prospects than quarterly performance. We continue to make progress on our strategic plans and are enthusiastic about sustainable long-term growth driven by customer acquisitions, deepening capabilities, agile capacity expansion and optimization of processes.”

Phantom Digital Effects Limited (06-11-2024)
Okay…Thanks. Bought this at Rs. 523 in March. Since then its been going southward. Even when the company posted Q1 results with 10% yoy growth, there was no positive movement on the price.
Any views on the possible reason for the price drop? Also any thoughts on expected Q2 results?

Nitiraj’s Portfolio (06-11-2024)
Hi Everyone,
I am 39 and had decent income but did not invest in share market for 13 years of my career. Started investing from last 2 years starting somewhere in Dec 2022.
Basically, I was sitting on a lot of cash (FD), was planning to invest in land but that did not happen, so started exploring share market. Obviously, pretty late in career to start investing and diversifying, but better late than never. Was not sure if taking help from any financial advisor would actually help, So I started my journey by myself. Initially I tried some swing trading, but quickly realized that it is not my cup of tea. So I started to think about value investing. Read some classic books on 100 baggers and started investing a little bit every month (kind of SIP).
I did not want to do lumpsum and wanted to initially expand my portfolio (cash in hand + don’t want lumsump + no prior experience = keep adding more stocks ) but I think at some point I just over did it.
Long story short, Now I have about 109 stocks in my portfolio (yeah thats 109), with investment %age in all ranges from 0.3% to 3.7% in one stock. I know it is not a good situation to be in (but here I am) especially because I am not able to track these and my gains move a lot with market itself.
Anyways, as of today Zerodha’s Kite shows my XIRR = 21% (not sure exactly how its calculated) and a net profit of 26.62%.
My stocks range from
Large cap : 21.96%
Mid cap :12.00%
Small cap : 24.53%
Materials : 22.99%
Information : 22.83%
Industrial : 11.53%
Financials : 11.36%
Health Care : 10.87%
Consumer Discretionary : 7.71%
Utilities : 4.58%
Communication : 2.69%
Consumer Staples : 2.44%
Real Estate : 0.44%
Energy : 0.07%
I understand, there is no one advice that can be given in such scenario.
So I have some questions
- Is this really that bad as I feel as of now or do people actually have large number of stocks in portfolios?
- I want to reduce the number of stocks to about 40 and then eventually move towards having a long term portfolio of max 25 stocks (better if it is 20). I read a lot about when to enter a stock and buy it, but I am not so sure about when should I exit the stock (?) from both good performing and non performing?
- What other advice can experienced investors give me, which can also be example for others in the forum. Let me know if more information from my side can help.
