Between may & October, 5-6 months have passed, at least at my corporate i have seen strategy change every 2 months, strategy changing in 6 months is reasonable. If they are raising funds, most likely for a significant capital deployment opportunity. So need to hear management out to build independent opinion whether it’s good capital allocation or not
Need suggestion on portfolio SK (30-10-2023)
Below is my updated portfolio(top 25 stocks). Some of them are opportunistic bets. I am more than 50% in cash and waiting for opportunity to deploy it. I may use some part of it for trading bets in case market doesn’t drop. Some of my allocation got reduced or exited due to stop loss triggered around Sep end market draw dawn.

If there are Chemical Engineers or industry insiders available in this forum, their inputs will be really helpful.
I was trying to understand why there is a high import restriction on Boron and related raw materials in India, but couldn’t find any valid reason (I did find many articles on GOI backing up their stance on the restriction, but not a proper reasoning behind it).
In fact, in the report ‘Critical Minerals for India’ published by the Ministry of Mines in June 2023 (https://mines.gov.in/admin/storage/app/uploads/649d4212cceb01688027666.pdf), they highlight Boron as a raw material with ‘High Economic Importance as well as High Supply Risk’. This further feeds the confusion around the high import restrictions on the same.
Indo Borax’s competitiveness is clearly visible in their high Margins, ROIC and the little to no Capex requirement to grow at high double digits. Understanding the reasoning behind GOI’s adamant stance on import of Boron could contribute to unravelling Indo Borax’s Competitive Advantage and more importantly, whether it’s Sustainable or Unsustainable.
Green Hydrogen as a Fuel – Indian Companies leading the Green Revolution (30-10-2023)

So far, we had
“Gray Hydrogen ” made from Methane gas or popularly known as Natural Gas and if compressed known as CNG
“Brown Hydrogen” manufacturer from coal.
“Blue Hydrogen” is the same as gray, but with carbon capture
Now, comes White Hydrogen which is naturally occuring below earth’s surface.
It is definitely going to be a game changer for mitigating climate change if a large scale exploration is conducted across the globe for natural Hydrogen Gas.
In fact Our Chandrayan was also looking for presence of hydrogen in Moon.
Though the stories are anecdotal, it is quite promising.
The anecdotal story that how a driller of a Well got injured while smoking led to discovery of Hydrogen reminds me another such story where 5- 6 people died one after another while digging a deep well in a land for irrigation purpose. After digging a depth of 30ft, two people got suffocated and died. then two more people went to rescue , but never returned. then the word of mouth spread and all villagers gathered and some medico’s of the village came Forward to investigate…they lowered a lighted candle inside the well, after 20 ft deep, there were small explosions around the candle light and as the candle light was lowered further, it got extinguished for want of oxygen.
The doctors did few more tests to confirm that the gas was Hydrogen.
This has happened in India few decades back.

I find this strange as it was only in the May ’23 concall that Mr Pallav Seth had mentioned “we are not tapping the capital market for further expansion.”
IDFC First Bank Limited (29-10-2023)
Wow! I am amazed at the amount of interest the esteemed forum members here have in IDFC First Bank.
Read the Q2 investor presentation now and most of the metrics (except two) looked fine to me. The two that did not are the CASA ratio and the Cost-to-Income ratio. Now while I am no finance virtuoso, the deterioration in either of those two metrics to me did not seem remarkable as such. So all in all, a fine result set.
I also must admit that the transparency of the leadership of the bank is a case study in itself. Loved it!
