TCS to hire over 1.25 lakh in FY24 (09-01-2023)
In a multi-year first, the country’s largest software exporter TCS on Monday reported a marginal decline in its overall employees for the December 2022 quarter but announced that it will be hiring over 1.25 lakh staff in FY24. The software firm posted a decline of 2,197 people in its employee base for the October-December period to 6.13 lakh. The Tata group company, however, made it clear that this was due to the higher hiring done over the last 18 months, and not driven by the demand environment.
Amul sacks R S Sodhi as managing director (09-01-2023)
In a sudden development, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd (GCMMF), which markets its products under the brand name ‘Amul’, on Monday ousted its long-serving Managing Director R S Sodhi but did not give any reason. However, Sodhi said he had requested the federation’s board to relieve him of his duties. The federation’s chief operating officer Jayenbhai Mehta has been given the interim charge of the managing director (MD).

Social media platform Meta has appointed Vikas Purohit as Director of Global Business Group in India to lead the strategy and delivery of the charter that is focused on the country’s leading advertisers and agency partners, the company said on Monday. Purohit will report to Arun Srinivas, director and head of ads business for Meta in India, it said in a statement. “I am thrilled to welcome Vikas as he joins our team to shape the role that Meta platforms can play in enabling businesses, supporting India’s economic growth, and building the digital advertising ecosystem of the country,” Srinivas said.
TCS Q3 net profit grows 11% to Rs 10,846 cr (09-01-2023)
The country’s largest IT services exporter TCS on Monday reported an 11 per cent jump in the December quarter net profit to Rs 10,846 crore, led by overall growth and forex gains. The Tata group company had reported a post-tax net profit of Rs 9,769 crore in the year-ago period. Overall revenue grew 19.1 per cent to Rs 58,229 crore for the reporting quarter from Rs 48,885 crore in the year-ago period, the company said, adding in constant currency, the topline growth is 13.5 per cent, and in the dollar terms, it clipped at 8 per cent.
