Fire at Britannia’s Pantnagar plant; no casualties (29-08-2022)
A major fire broke out in Britannia Industries’ Pantnagar manufacturing plant on Sunday destroying thousands of tons of biscuits. However, no one was killed or injured in the fire which broke out around 1230 hours in the biscuit division of the factory, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhamsingh Nagar (district) Manjunath T C told Business Standard after the firefighters put the fire out. “With the help of 15-20 fire tenders, we were able to control the fire which was very major,” Manjunath said.

NDTV defers AGM by a week amid Adani’s takeover bid (29-08-2022)
New Delhi Television (NDTV) has deferred its Annual General Meeting (AGM) by a week to September 27, the company said in a regulatory filing on Sunday. The AGM was originally scheduled to be held on September 20. The media company said that the deferment was due to the processes required after the notice and public announcement of the open offer made by Vishvapradhan Commercial (VCPL), an indirect subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, to its public shareholders.
Personal info of Akasa Air’s passengers leaked (29-08-2022)
Personal information such as name, gender, email address and phone numbers of some Akasa Air passengers has been leaked to “unauthorised individuals”, the airline stated on Sunday. India’s newest carrier said it self-reported this incident to Indian Computer Emergency Response Team CERT-In, which is the government-authorised nodal agency tasked to deal with matters of this nature. However, Akasa Air asserted that there was no “intentional hacking attempt, but that the situation was reported by a research expert through a journalist for which we are grateful”.
Rupee falls to all-time low of 80.15 against US dollar (29-08-2022)
The rupee depreciated 31 paise to an all-time low of 80.15 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday tracking the strength of the American currency and firm crude oil prices. At the interbank foreign exchange, the rupee opened at 80.10 against the dollar, then lost ground to quote at 80.15, registering a fall of 31 paise from the last close. On Friday, the rupee closed at 79.84 against the dollar.
