Similar challenges have been faced by IT in the last decade, but hasn't materially impacted growth of IT companies... Even Japanese companies faced the same scenario in US... key is to remain competitive and Indian pharma seems to be heading in the right direction with the low cost model

Swaraj Engines – Great cash flows! (17-10-2015)
Being a seasonal business and dependent on Monsoon, FHFY15 was the best performance in my knowledge in history of the company. SHFY15 were profit and sales declined significantly. In fact in Q1FY16 and Q2FY16 the company shown decline in YOY sales, same is almost up 50% over SHFY15.
What would be interesting to observe that in case company even repeat same number in Q3FY16, of what shown Q2FY16, we would find 50% growth in Sales and 88% growth in Net profit !!!
Personally, I like the business and management of the company and among top 5 investment holding in my portfolio. My view may be biased due to my holding.

Please read other than real estate costs in small costs as other than real estate costs in smaller towns?
V-Mart Retail Ltd (17-10-2015)
What is vmart's spread on rentals - how many stores are at 4-5% of sales, how many are at 5-8% of sales, how many are at greater than 10% of sales? How many of their stores are breaking even ? What is the working capital in terms of days of sale? How did the working capital change over the last 5 years? How is their model superior to big bazaar or reliance trends or dmart (other than lower real estate costs in small costs ) Today they are not looking at small towns because they are yet to saturate tier 2 and tier 3 cities. Once they complete the expansion in larger urban centre, they will change their focus to tier 3 and tier4 cities. What is v mart doing better which will enable them to compete against the above stores when they open in same towns?

Q2 results are out. Though the sales of the engine has decreased compared to the last year's same quarter, profitability has increased a little bit. Shows the prudence of the management in controlling costSWARAJENG_press.pdf (699.7 KB). With two states declaring drought officially, short term concerns are there. But pretty confident that management would ride this through without any major problems.

Cafe Coffee Day – Will you Date? (17-10-2015)
Most of their outlets are rented. This makes them very vulnerable to lease rentals. They face competition from Barista, Bru etc and the competition will only grow. The valuation of the company is high. If you like it, you will almost certainly get it at a lower price. This is the sort of company to look at in a beaten down market, where it can be priced much lower. It can be a good long term growing brand.
I do not agree with someone in this thread who sees the political links of the company as negative. It is impossible for Indian companies to grow to this extent without dealing with politicians. The political link is in fact a positive.

affordable and cheaper healthcare is a political win win for all parties,.older the population gets the more affordable medicines they will require.usfda is a blessing in disguise for indian pharma as it has raised the quality of indian pharma cos in all respects, so i feel no need to worry.the healthcare industry in the usa is unanimous that they need to bring down costs of health care.
