I think it is getting ready to deliver better growth. EBITDA grew 35% yoy mainly due to 3%+ expansion in gross margins. It is ticking all the boxes by reducing debt, increasing dividends and increasing cash on the balance sheet. Don’t know what caused massive drop in other income and increase in tax rate. Without these it was headed to 35% growth in Q2 EPS. It is too much to expect an elephant to run too fast that too in the rainy season. However, raw material benefits will keep EPS growth good enough for the next few quarters at least.

Hey team! There seems to be a clear divergence in terms of valuations of various HFCs. Despite consistent performance for almost a decade, DHFL struggles to trade at a book value relative to it’s peers.
The issue clearly seems to be alleged promoter integrity problems. Let’s address this HDIL issue head on.
What is the allegation exactly? That there is cross ownership, and that the HDIL promoters may want to use their stake in DHFL to influence decisions that enable them to siphon fund, Is that the issue? The shareholding pattern suggests no such thing don’t know about benami though.
So if there is no cross ownership (since the 2012 parting of ways) Clearly the market cannot punish a company because the cousin of the promoter indulged in misdemeanors in a completely different company. This doesn’t make sense. What am I missing?
Would really appreciate it if someone can educate me on the allegations against DHFL in particular not HDIL. I googled the issue and followed the story from 2009 to date, I don’t see any thing that should raise concerns.
Moving on, on a side note.
A not so bright thing DHFL did recently was to move most of its offices from the HDIL building but still maintain a floor or two and call it headquarters. Why couldn’t they just completely get out of the building and have no connection or association with HDIL is beyond me.

Is year on year no growth in revenue any cause of worry?

Avanti has also shown decrease on cost of material consumed
q2fy15 – 429 cr
q2fy16 – 405 cr
which resulted in 29% YoY growth in Net Profit.
I tried to compare these number with only other listed feed company Waterbase but this does not look like industry trend

Hey Chintan, thanks for your honest view on the Uplands and beyond 5 projects.
From their most recent press release –
Uplands – Total units available for sale 282, Units booked till data 94. Exactly a third (Pre launch) Based on the pictures posted in their quarterly presentation, I don’t think even the gold course is ready yet let alone a model villa. And the targeted completion date is 2020. So I would assume super early days, in spite of having nothing to show far, no golf course, model villa, I’m quite surprised with the response they have received. Did you get a chance to visit Uplands personally? Your views / scuttle but with the on site staff about response etc. will be greatly appreciated.
Beyond 5 – Again, super early stage of the project apparently (would appreciate it, if you can update us on this if you have visited the location) Totally agree with you (I have the same point of view) don’t understand why people would want to buy so far away from the city. But keep in mind this is just a weekend home, a get away from the noise & pollution of the city, so not too sure how relevant things like no grocery stores etc is, as it is meant just for the weekends.
Since you are in Ahemdabad, as and when you get the time could you maybe visit these locations, speak with the actual on site construction supervisors to get their views on is construction delays if any, the customer profile (who are these people that are buying these villas) so that we can get a more qualitative understanding of Arvind infra’s biggest projects?
It would be a great help if anyone from Ahemdabad could do this.

Agreed Chintan. But I think Golf Villas make sense somewhat far from city boundries only. I mean it will take crores to get a golf villa near 5 km from Ahmedabad since as I understand the areas in outskirts are currently priced at hell expensive rates.

I am originally from Ahmedabad and checked locations of Uplands and Beyond 5. These are atleast 10 km away from the periphery. Most sane people wouldn’t even consider buying a farmhouse at location of Beyond 5. Reminds me of Adani Shantigram 10-15 years back. Many HNIs bought villas but didn’t have anywhere to buy even basic ration within few km. However, just because I can’t understand why people buy at such locations doesn’t mean people don’t or won’t. Most often it’s the pump and dump strategy and fear of missing out. The prices seemed slightly on the higher side for these far-off locations.
I’ve not stayed much in Ahmedabad in last 5-6 years, so might not have caught up with inflation or periphery expansion.

i normally buy jockey from online through jockey e-commerce site. no bad experience till date.ya riche’s may be right, no argument. it was just my thought. my guts feeling is that it will wait for the earning to catch up in this range. i can be wrong also as i dont understand or follow technical chart.

As per me the results are ok as September is the weakest quarter for Consumer Durable comapnies.
However one Negative that i feel is that compared to Sep 14 quarter the profit in Consumer Durables segment has decreased.
@RajeevJ and other seniors tracking this company would love to have ur views on the results.
